Dress up

The girl likes to dress up. These pictures were taken in a span of about 15 minutes. She kept finding things in the bottom drawer of her dresser and bringing them to me to put on.  The hats she managed to put on all by herself.  I think having a little girl is about to really feel different!

She loves this doll and calls it "baby". In fact, she really loves babies right now (pretty much any child that looks slightly younger than herself is a baby). If we go outside, she points out all the babies.  She had a great time today Skyping with cousin Grace...she just kept saying "baby, baby".

Fish Day #3

We are thankful for our neighborhood and being allowed to live here another year.  This fun tradition of releasing goldfish into the neighborhood ponds was continued this year...Lucy was lots of fun at it this year.

Ooh- fish, fish. She just kept repeating that word.
Chris kept holding them up to her... as you will see she had a love/hate relationship with the fish.
ooh get that thing away from me!
Aaah, no I don't want to see it
aaah! (clearly Chris was having fun getting this reaction and not giving up)
 Kiss the fish...mmmmuh.
 Ok...KISS, don't eat it.
Austin was bolder than in years past, picking one up.  Promise no fish were harmed in the making of this blog post :) Well, hopefully.

Bennett preferred dumping them straight from the bucket into the water.
Monkeys in the tree (they were actually all pretending to be monkeys).

Belated Easter and other happenings

This will be a catch up post, since I am behind.  We had a very good Easter, despite it being a cold, polluted day that did not FEEL like Easter (it felt more like Good Friday should feel).  But all the more reason to put our hope in resurrection and the future we await. We spent a lot of the week of Easter doing an Easter book for homeschool, dyeing eggs, making our Easter garden for the second year in a row (starting Thursday making the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus on the cross Friday, in the "potato" tomb and an empty tomb alive and bursting with lilys Chris got me Sunday morning), Easter cards for friends. Our annual Easter picnic was cancelled due to bad weather and pollution, but a few of us ate together at Angie and Jason's house and still enjoyed fellowship.

The best we got for an Easter picture...we didn't get the whole family and it was not nice outside.  But still cute and handsome!

Sporting an Easter dress...and a big bump on her forehead.  The day before she fell outside and clunked her head on a rock.  She got over it pretty quickly but had quite a little egg bump for a few days.

Newest skill acquired...coloring.  She will actually sit and scribble for a bit and seems proud of it.  It is a nice distraction during homeschool...I will stick her in her highchair and she will color a little while. She seems to be another righty...thought we would have a left hander but it doesn't look like it. The boys are so unimpressed... "she isn't drawing anything Mommy it is just lines". Wow how did they get so high and mighty with coloring?

The boys made a fort today and "camped" in it.  Here they are sharing a sweet moment (it was a short moment) of reading together.

Another new interest...dressing up.  I actually slept in a little and when I got up Lucy was wearing Bennett's Thomas the Tank shirt.  Chris said she found it in his drawer and brought it to him to put on. She calls trains the "choo choo" right now and loves them. Then she added the pirate hat.  Looks like we will need to find some girl dress up clothes soon...though obviously pirates and trains and superheroes seem to suit her just fine.
